In a rent and possession case, you have the right to appeal a judgment against you after a trial by filing an application for a new trial. This is known as a Trial de Novo.

You must file the application for a Trial de Novo no later than TEN calendar days after the date of the trial judgment. Ask a court clerk or go to the court’s website for a Trial de Novo application.

Note: To stay in possession pending the appeal, you must post and pay into the court’s registry a stay bond in the amount of the money judgment issued against you as well as any accruing rent.
